Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paws with Nava?

Paws with Nava is a licensed and insured, in-home dog sitting and walking service based in Carmel Valley, San Diego (92130), serving the greater San Diego area. Your dog is welcomed into a private home environment — or we come to yours.

Why Paws with Nava?

Many of our clients have noticed Nava's natural connection with dogs — a genuine ease that shows in how dogs respond to her care. We back that up with licensing, insurance, and a service agreement so expectations are clear from the start. The result is care that feels personal and professionally sound.

What services do you offer?

We offer in-home overnight dog sitting, daytime dog stays, and dog walking — either at our home or at your residence. We work around your dog's existing routine and comfort level.

Will I receive updates during the stay?

Yes, at your request we're happy to send photo and text updates so you can see how your dog is doing. Just let us know your preference at the meet and greet.

How many dogs do you care for at once?

We intentionally keep it to 1 to 3 dogs at a time. This is a deliberate choice — fewer dogs means more attention, a calmer environment, and a better experience for every pup in our care.

Where do you serve?

We're based in Carmel Valley, 92130, and serve the greater San Diego area including Pacific Highlands Ranch, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch, and surrounding neighborhoods. Not sure if you're in range? Just call — we'll let you know.

What does your process look like?

Every new client starts with a free meet and greet so we can get to know your dog, understand their routine, and make sure it's a great fit. From there, we have both parties sign a simple service agreement before the first stay. After that, it's smooth sailing — just reach out to book and we'll take it from there.

Why do you require a signed service agreement?

The agreement exists to protect both you and us. It puts our commitment to your dog in writing — the services we'll provide and how we handle the unexpected — so there's never any ambiguity. It's our way of taking the relationship seriously from day one.

What does licensed mean?

It means Paws with Nava is a registered business in the State of California, compliant with local business licensing and tax requirements — not a casual side arrangement. It reflects our commitment to operating with professionalism and integrity.

Are you insured?

Yes. Paws with Nava carries a Businessowners Policy specifically classified for Pet Sitters. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, and exclusions of our policy — our liability in any situation is limited to what our insurance covers.

What information do we need before a stay?

The more we know, the better we can care for your dog. We ask for feeding schedules, walk preferences, sleep habits, favorite toys, any quirks or sensitivities, and your vet's contact information.

What if my dog takes medication?

We are not veterinarians, and we want to be upfront about that. For dogs with straightforward, owner-administered medications (a pill with meals, for example), we're happy to follow your instructions carefully. For anything requiring medical judgment, we ask that you consult your vet about whether in-home sitting is the right fit.

Does Nava have formal training or certifications in pet care?

Nava does not hold formal pet care certifications or credentials. What she brings is a lifelong, genuine connection with dogs — something many of our clients have noticed and appreciated in how their dogs respond to her. Our service agreement, licensing, and insurance reflect our commitment to operating responsibly and professionally.

How do I get started?
